Robocode Training

UCC’s ACM Student Chapter is going to be holding a competition next Wednesday 1st December to find the robocode team that will be representing UCC in the All Ireland Robocode Competition next year(robocode.ie).

The Competition is open to first year students. We will be holding a training session (including an introduction to Java programming) on Thursday 17th of November to prepare the teams for the competition next week.

7:00 - Introduction to Java programming
8:00 - Robocode training session with experienced Robocode coders

Imagine Cup Introduction & Microsoft openness story

We have organised a presentation from Michael Meagher from Microsoft Ireland in G04, Western Gateway Building at 1 o clock on Monday 8th of November.

Michael has been working with Microsoft since 1996 and is currently the Academic Engagement Manager for Microsoft.
He will be giving a presentation on the Imagine Cup, Microsoft's annual international competition for young technologists and Microsoft's open source community "port25".

Robocode Evening

UCC’s ACM Student Chapter is hosting a Robocode introductory evening on Wednesday the 3rd Nov in G21 of the Western Gateway Building.

Robocode is a programming game, where the goal is to develop the best battle tank! The code used to implement your tank is Java, don’t worry if your not familiar with the language as it is relatively basic and there will be people there to guide you through it!

6:00 - basic introduction to help you get started, a short tutorial on how to program the tanks.
6:30 - After this you will be attempting to write your own robot!

Robocode Practice Session

Robocode is a programming game, where the goal is to develop a robot battle tank to battle against other tanks in Java or .NET. Robot battles run in real-time and on-screen.

We’re holding a Robocode practice session using the Java version of the API. This is in preparation for a mini Robocode competition next week. We will meet in the Western Gateway Building lobby at 7pm and will wrap up with a few battles around 9.
All are welcome.
