The UCC ACM Student Chapter will host the nine annual Irish Collegiate Programming Competition (IrlCPC) on Saturday the 10th of March 2018. Each team of competitors will tackle a problem set that tests their problem solving, numeracy and computer programming skills. This competition is not for novice programmers but those who have a passion for programming.

The Insight Centre for Data Analytics, is a joint initiative between researchers at Dublin City University, NUI Galway, University College Cork and University College Dublin and other partner institutions. Information about the IrlCPC

Team members will have one computer between them to solve a set of problems within 4 hours. Difficulty of the problems varies from simple course work level, to challenging (ACM competition level). Previous problem sets are available as a guide. There will be no Internet access for the duration of the competition.

Teams may choose to use Python 2, Python 3, Go, C, C++, Haskell, Java, and C# during the competition. All programs will be evaluated under linux, so C# will be run using mono.


Teams should be composed of 3 students, of which at most 2 can be postgraduate students. Each team should nominate a representative of the third-level which will act as coach, but they need not be present on the day of the competition. The role of the coach should be to advise the team in their preparations for the competition.

The competition will take place from 10am - 6:30pm in the Western Gateway Building, University College Cork, Western Road, Cork. (Google Maps) which is a 15 minute walk from Cork City Centre.

The number 208 travels from Cork City Centre and stops on the Western Road next to the Western Gateway Building. The number 205 bus travels from Kent Train Station and stops at Brookfield which is a short walk from the Western Gateway Building across a footbridge.
